Why I Don't Like American Idol

I just turned on the tv and the new season of American Idol is on. They're at the part where they are showing all the bad contestants, before they get to the final 12. I don't mind watching the final twelve, in fact I enjoyed it last year. But this part of the show I hate. I think it is insulting and it goes out of its way to humiliate the people on the show. It's just so mean spirited. And I'm not talking about Simon's comments. It's the way the shows brings these people in that they know have no chance, the ones that should never had gotten past the first line of judges, and than it lets them make complete fools of themselves. And these people can't believe it, the last girl was almost on her hands and knees begging. I'm sorry, I don't find this compelling tv. I'd rather see the contestants that almost make it, let's see the judges making the decision on the ones that came close and see what they have to say about why they didn't make it. Not the ones that the producers know from the start have no chance, they just let them go through so the judges can make comments about how bad they are and the audience at home can laugh at how bad these people are. This is not good tv.

I'm with Janey, actually. I can't stand any of it.

I'm living in Sweden, and we get the American as well as the Swedish ones (and there's a couple of variations of Swedish versions as well).

Needless to say, I'm not too fond of Swedish TV!
