I just got my copy of the Absolute Watchmen in the mail today. If anyone knows anything about modern comic books, they know this is the top of the form. Time Magazine listed it as one of the 100 greatest works of fiction if I remember correctly. Watchmen was created and written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons. It was a 12 issue mini series and than later collected into book form. Now it's been given the deluxe large hardback in a slipcase treatment. Also in the back is the original proposal Alan Moore presented to DC comics for the series. Unfortunately it doesn't have anything new by Alan Moore about the project since he and DC had a parting of the ways over the issue of Watchmen.
I'm glad that Amazon shrink wraps all the books it sends and than puts another piece of heavier shrink wrap around it inside the book. It's been raining here all day and the mail man put my package against the fence outside. The box the book came in almost literally fell apart in my hands when I picked it up. But I wasn't too worried, I've had a lot of stuff shipped from Amazon and after the first time I had a package left in the rain and freaked out to discover it completely dry I knew it should be fine. Only once have I got a package from Amazon that didn't survive the rain and when I contacted them they sent me a replacement copy with no problems
All I can say is this is a great comic and looks so good in this format. And at Amazon it was thirty dollars off the price I could get anywhere else.
