Ok, this is not news by any stretch of the imagination. You'd have to be living under a rock not to have heard about his hanging. To tell the truth I'm not sure how I feel about it. Yes, he was a bad man with a capital B. But a lot of the badness he did, to his own people and to others, we thought was ok when he was one of our "friends." It was only after he started acting in ways that didn't go along with our needs that he became such a terrible leader.
With everything that has happened over in Iraq and the way our government has acted I'd feel a lot better about the whole thing if I didn't feel as if it was all just a push by W to make people think he's acting decisive about the Iraq situation. Look he can say, we just killed the big bad man, now things will get better.
Unfortuantely things will probably get a lot worse.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The manner in which we deposed Saddam and brought him to answer for his crimes was probably a case of doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. That's something that rarely works out well in the end.
We'll have to wait to see if things get better there. They still can't even get along with each other. Wait and see is all we can do.
I have a feeling it will only get worse.
I'm sure his execution will do nothing to HELP the situation.
(I'm challenging everyone with word verification to turn it off for one week.)
