In all fairness I will admit right up front that I wasn't a big fan of her when she was on American Idol. I thought she had a decent voice, but I wasn't pulling for Katherine McPhee to win. She wouldn't have even been in my top three to win. She did two good songs on the show, Black Horse and A Cherry Tree and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Than what does she do, the very next week she sings these two songs again in her closing segment. They were probably the two songs that got her the best praise from the judges, but to do them so soon after just singing them was a mistake I think. She did a great job on them once, she was competing with herself in this instance.
But there was something about her attitude on the show that I didn't like. Or the interviews I read while she was on the show. Now all this could just be projecting on her, I don't know her so I have no idea what she is really like. But to me she came off as a diva from the start.
Now I'm reading interviews with her where she complains about American Idol and how mean the judges were to her. Have I missed something here? Without American Idol we wouldn't even be reading an interview with her. I watched that season of American Idol and I don't think the judges were any tougher or meaner with her than they were with the other contestants. I think Simon was usually harsher with the winner Taylor than most. He just did not like Taylor most of the time.
To me that's the ulimate sour grapes. Complain about the show that made you.

Simon never said SHE sounded like a drunken uncle lol
That's right. I think Simon was tougher on Taylor than anyone. He really never cared for him from the start.
