Last night around 3:00 a.m. a tornado touched down in Westwego, a small town on the Westbank of New Orleans. It tore through a section of the town and than skipped across the Mississippi River and again touched down in the Carrollton area of New Orleans, which is the Uptown area. The tornado skipped over Mid City and came back to ground around the Pontchartrain Park area.
There was one death and over three dozen injured. Countless homes were destroyed. One woman, with her two children, had finally came back from Houston after Katrian and was in the hotel in Westwego that the tornado tore next to. The hotel is pictured in the second picutre from the top.
I used to live in Westwego. It's a small town not from far the Huey P Long Bridge that connects New Orleans to the West Bank. Many of the families that had their homes destroyed were just finally getting things back in order from Katrina.
Sometimes it seems like Mother Nature has it in for New Orleans.
