Riverworld

Has anyone else read the Riverworld novels by Philip Jose Farmer? I read them more years ago than I want to think about and am currently thinking of reading the series again. I seem to be missing the second book, but I'm sure it's around here somewhere. Riverworld was one of the grandest science fiction series ever created. It seems that everyone that dies wakes up on this world where the most prominent feature is this huge river. The main characters are people from history, the adventurer (not actor) Richard Burton and Mark Twain are two of the main characters. I remember loving this series when I first read it, at least the first couple books. I have to admit that I don't remember the ending that well, so that's another reason for me to go back to re-read the series. The first book To Your Scattered Bodies Go run the Hugo for the year it was published. I didn't know that the sci-fi channel attempted to make a series based on the concept. It had all new characters in the show, but it took place on the Riverworld. I don't think much more than a pilot was ever filmed or released. Has anyone seen it? Good, bad or indifferent?

I'll ask my husband about these. I'm not a big sci-fi fan myself, but he's wild about the genre. If he hasn't read them, I'll tell him to check them out!
