I know that so many people are looking forward to this, but I just can't get over the fact that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite movies, ever. Gene Wilder was classic in this role.

I also know that this is supposed to be a different version/adaptation of the story (i.e. closer to the actual book). In that respect, it might be good. I just feel as though it would be "cheating" to go see it in the theaters. LOL

Oh well. You'll have to let me know how it is..

I hate to admit it but I never saw the Gene Wilder one, so when I go see this one it'll be completely new movie to me.

JOHN!!! Im horrified! How could you have not SEEN the original! Its a staple for all humans. Get your contact wearing butt out to Blockbuster ASAP before you see this one. Sheesh! If we were neighbors I would be at your doorstep tonight with the movie and a buttload of chocolate (also mandatory when viewing this CLASSIC).

I'm sooooo sorry! What can I say? I led a deprived childhood. I was kept chained in the basement and only let out on every third month on even years. I'll go watch it immediately.

Well given your upbringing its possible you will revert to a childlike-dream state when watching this movie, so you should have babysitters standing by. ;) Now that sounds kinky!

Seriously though-- besides a few really stupid songs, its a good movie and it does make you think of your childhood or of being a kid.

Now youll know what people mean if they tell you to "Cheer up Charlie"!

You sure know how to charm a girl {wink}. I'm so excited over the release of this film. I have nothing against Gene Wilder whatsoever... I think it was more the Oompa Loompas... but this just seems as if it may be more to my liking. I don't remember more than 50 seconds (total) of the original, so I can't even compare. The look of a Burton film and demeanor of Depp is what I look forward to. Dark, twirly and creepy. With a top hat and velvet coat. John, any chance we can get you to pose in that outfit?
