Black Sabbath was formed in England in 1968 with the original lineup of Ozzy Osborne, Tommy Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. Though Osborne is the more well known name the group started more as a vehicle for Iommi's musical vision. Black Sabbath has become one of the biggest and best known Heavy Metal Bands in the world. Osborne was fired from the band in 1978 and since than the lead singer position has changed hands mulitple times.The band started out with the name Earth but another band claimed that name. Taking the name from a Vincent Price movie which inspired Butler to write a song with that title. The band wanted to create a sound that was the musical equivalent to horror movies. Their first album was self titled and released on Friday the 13th 1970.

I remember Blak Sabbath vividly. I have one of their records (yes record) in a box downstairs. I even saw them in concert when I was very young.
