Stax Records started in Memphis in 1959 as Satellite Records. It was founded by a country fiddler Jim Stewart and his sister Estelle Axton. The name was derived from the first two letters of their last names, st and ax to form stax.

Stax became a name known for Southern Soul Music. It was the home of such greats as Otis Redding, Staple Singers, Isaac Hayes, Booker T and the MGs and many more.

The above track list shows how awesome this cd collection is.

Booker T and the MGs? Johnnie Taylor? Sounds good to me!
