AssHat Awards

A new bi-weekly post from the friendly folks over at What the Blog?! Everyone that wants to nominates whoever they think is an asshat (I think the word doesn't need much definition) and than they pick the winning post. So here's my post for this Friday.

U.S. Army Secretary Franics Harvey resigned from his position for the debacle of the Walter Reed Hospital. The military hospital has been in the news recently due to the terrible conditions the service men and women have to deal with at the medical building. Wounded soldiers are having to deal with mountains of red tape and the injured are being kept in substandard conditions.

Everytime anyone says anything bad about the war the Republicans try to spin it into an attack on the troops fighting over there. It's gotten so bad that if you make a comment against the war you have to add..."but I'm for the troops."

So who is really for the troops? We've seen over and over again how the adminstration has sent our troops in harms way with inferior equipment and training. Now we see that as the wounded and hurt come back our wonderful leaders once again step up the task and show us how much they support our troops by putting them in rooms that should be condemned and medical help that is almost non existent.

I'm sure that Mr. Harvey is just the first of many scapegoats for the whole fiasco, but he is in one of the top positions in the Army. The offical word is that he resigned but the word behind that is that he was asked to step down by the Secretary of Defense.

But for not taking action sooner and letting these conditions exist in the first place my first choice for Asshat goes to Francis Harvey.
