Love

I know it's been a long week when I forgot to post this yesterday.

October 9, 1980......a day that I will always remember. Like many people of another generation remember where they were when John Kennedy was killed I will always remember the moment I heard of John Lennon's murder.

Edit: Thanks to Malcolm for pointing it out, but today is the day John Lennon was born, not killed. I really did know this, but just mixed it up.

Sitting on the bed in my NYC apartment, watching Monday Night Football...a tad (OK more than a tad) loaded...when Howard Cossell made the announcement.

The game was put aside and I headed up town to the vigil being held in Central Park

I actually didn't catch it till after the news when the reruns of MASH started and they got in to announce he was dead.

I heard about the death of John Lennon the following morning while watching The Today Show before heading off to school.

By the way, October 9th is John's birthday. He was murdered on December 8th.

You're right and I knew that. Somehow I mixed the two up.
