It may seem like a forgettable comment, nothing to get fussed over. Anyone can make a mistake and not realize they are interacting with a blind person.
But, I expect the President of the United States to be aware.
And the worse part is that he seems to know who the reporter is, he calls him by name, so I'm assuming that he knows he is blind. And to make comments like that...
