Tonight I talked to an old friend that I haven't talked to in awhile, Billy. Back when I worked for Service Merchandise he was my assisstant manager. But it was always more than just a working relationship, he was my friend. After Service went out of business we still talked at least once a week and meet for lunch now and than. But somewhere after Katrina the calls slowed down and than stopped. We both got too busy and it was too easy to put that phone call off for another day. Well tonight I gave him a call and we talked. It was good to hear from him again. Billy is one of those rare people that is just a nice, gentle person, one of the nicest people I know.
It's strange how easy it is to slowly lose friends. With so little effort you can drift apart and before you know it, where once you were good friends you're just people that know each other now. I don't have enough friends in the world to lose anymore.

How true you are. I now that I am older value friendships a lot more than I did when I was younger. It is even worse when you move across country like I did.
