Buffy Returns

Ok, not really, but Sarah Michelle Gellar returns to TV this Fall in the CW show Ringers.    This is the show I'm anticipating the most.  It's a very complicated show, with Sarah playing twin sisters and one twin is missing and the other twin is pretending to be her.  Throw in some crime and someone trying to kill someone else and the FBI is looking for the sister that is pretending to be the other sister and already my head hurts.  But I'm truly hoping that they pull this off.  Ms. Gellar has been away too long.

Balloon Ear

I came home from work yesterday and when I went to pet Buffy I noticed one of her ears looked like a balloon. Her left ear had swollen up like a balloon. I immediately got on the phone to her vet to find out what was going on. Regular readers might remember Buffy has ear problems, which is compounded by the fact that she won't let me clean her ears, I have to bring her in to the vet to get her ears cleaned. Well, it seems that he more recent ear problems are caused by her shaking her head. The blood vessels in her ear have pretty much broken and her ear is filled with blood and who knows what else, causing it to balloon. The vet gave me some medicine that hopefully will help. She said what usually ends up happening is surgery where they have to cut into the ear to drain the buildup. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, and her head shaking is almost gone, so hopefully when I come home from work tonight her ear will be a little smaller. One side affect of this can be her ear literally exploding. It's not as bad as it sounds from what the vet says. Basically all that blood needs someplace to go and it does. The blood is thinned with whatever else is in her ear so it will be thin and very messy the vet said. What's worse when this happens of course the dog starts shaking her head, throwing this mixture all over. I'm really hoping this doesn't happen with Buffy.

Too Quiet

Buffy is over my brothers. I just got back from the Westbank. He's going to watch her while I'm in D.C. next week. I've only been home a little while but it seems too quiet without Buffy here. That's not exactly what I mean, Buffy doesn't make a lot of noise when she's here, she doesn't bark much. What I mean is that it's too lonely here without Buffy.

I was getting ready to go out when Buffy was sitting there watching. She was giving me that pitiful look like as if to tell me that I can't leave her home alone.

Buffy at the Vet

I had to bring Buffy to the vet today. Some of her annual shots were due and I wanted them to clean her ears. She has constant problems with her ears and what's worse is that she won't let me clean them at home. When I bring her to the vet they have to knock her out so they can clean them. She did good, got all her shots and her ears cleaned. After they finish it takes about 45 minutes for her to come out of the shot they gave her. It's a slow process, she starts by shaking her head. Her tongue hangs out of her mouth and she shakes her head back and forth. Than she tries to stand up but it takes a little while before she can manage that. I'll lay on the floor next to her while she is coming out of it, petting her and re assuring her that it's ok. I feel bad, but it's the best thing for her. Even after she can walk and we get to my car I have to help her in because she can't climb in the seat by herself yet. By the time we get home she's pretty much back to normal. Now she's sitting by the door sunning herself and glad she's home.

I don't know what her fascination is with this stuffed tiger. Every other time I've given her any type of stuffed toy she ends up tearing it apart within days. Even the rubber toys aren't immune to her ripping and tearing. She likes to tear things apart. But so far this little tiger has been spared. She'll pick it up and carry it from room to room with her and just let it sit in front of her, sometimes she'll chew on it a little or lick it, but there have been no big tearing or ripping. I keep trying to get a picture of her carrying it but I never have my camera ready or she'll put it down before I can snap the picture.
