I've never been to Washington D.C. before. Well, good luck to you, then! :-)
Just got back from D.C. myself! I blogged about traveling this week for my TT: http://fourbzboysmom.blogspot.com/
Make sure you go online to get tickets to get up inside the Washington Monument. You pay a small fee to reserve a specific time (1.25 or 2.00 max). BUT--it sure beats standing in line a long time just to go up for free! **tickets are required and can be purchased in advance for a fee by calling 1-800-967-2283 or over the internet at http://reservations.nps.gov. Free tickets can be obtained for same day visits from the kiosk at the bottom of the hill from the monument at 15th St. and Jefferson Dr., open 8:30am to 4:30pm and distrbuted on a first-come first-served basis, tickets run out early. One person can obtain up to six tickets.
Have fun!
Your blog is a tour in itself---those are some of the best photographs of Washington I've ever seen.
Oh, that elephant at the museum brought back memories! LOL
We were there and my dd, who was 3 at the time, looked up and said "That's Elephants BUTT!" REALLY, really loudly! LOL
Sounds like a busy plan! Have fun and happy late TT,
Jeannine
Glad my comment was helpful John! I go to D.C. fairly frequently for work. If you want a great tour of the Capitol, call the office for your member of congress (can find out who it is at http://www.house.gov/ by entering your zip code at the top left of the page). Most members have staff that can give tours of the Capitol. That way you won't have to wait in line for that either--you just set your tour time with the staff.
Have fun!
