As If We Didn't Already Know...
My faith in humanity is restored. I just read that Paris Hilton may only have to serve half her term for driving without a license. "Cruel and unusual punishment," just proves once again money and fame keep you out of trouble. I read that Paris is claiming to be a role model for young girls and she doesn't deserve to go to jail, if she really was a role model she would go to jail gladly to show young girls the perils of driving drunk. But we all know that won't happen.

I find it quite ridiculous that this girl is not being made to pay full penalty for breaking the law.
I'm sure there is precedent for "regular" people not to pay their full sentence. But she's getting off because she's a celebrity with money.
That fries me. She's no role model. She's a spoiled rich bitch, famous because her family built an empire.
I agree with you completely, Trav. This just makes me so mad, she has contributed nothing to society but she's treated as if she is someone special.
This is a no-win situation...
There is obvious truth that she won't serve the entire original sentence but there are plenty of people who don't...not just celebs...but because of overcrowding...
Surely, she will get different treatment because of her family's money...that's just reality...Along with fame anf fortune, comes opportunity...and that includes buying your way out...
It's unrealistic and pollyanna to beleive we're all created equal...we're not.
What I'd rather see...in addition to a short sentence...is a sentence to community service... have her on community detention and make her work with some underpriviledged people...
Mandate that any movie/book/publication earnings are given to whatever charity...
You know she's going to turn this into a financial gain...That's her strength...she should have to share that back to the community...
I thought the same about martha Stewart...regardless of her charges...they were corporate charges...she didn't murder anyone...What good was she in the pokie? Imagine what she could have given to the community by teaching skills to women in prison...
Just my .02...
