I just finished watching The Breakfast Club. I bought this dvd a long time ago and have not got around to watching it until now. It's been years since I watched this movie. I remember watching it in the theaters when it first came out. You know how you remember how good something was when you first saw it, but years later when you watch it you wonder what you saw in it. Well, this movie doesn't suffer from that problem.
This movie is still as good today as when I first saw it. At the time this movie was made John Hughes, the writer and director, was riding high. He was the master of the teen movie. His movies were smart and funny and sexy and they captured what it meant to be a teenager. And this movie is his masterpiece. It's all here.

John Hughes was able to capture the ridiculous angst of being a teenager without being condescending or brutally stupid.
And I agree, this movie stands up even now.
