Twenty...eh, Forty Years Ago Today

Forty years ago the Beatles released what many consider their masterpiece in England. It wasn't until the next day, June 2, that they released the album in the United States. This album ends up as number one on most lists of the best albums of all time. While I think this is a landmark album I don't think it's their best. Still it is a great piece of art.

The Beatles were the first musical act that I responded to and wanted to hear more of. It might have been because my older cousin, who was in her teens and so cool, loved the Beatles and you know when you're younger it's hard not to be influenced by your cooler, older relatives. The first piece of music I ever owned was the 45 of Eight Days A Week. This is still one of my favorite Beatle songs. The first album I ever bought was Beatles' 65, which had Eight Days A Week on it.

My love of the Beatles has only grown with time. I'm still a fan.

I love Sgt Pepper but I think Abbey Road was their best

I think Sgt Pepper is the easiest to call the best.

I don't differentiate between good, better, best though. I love just about all Beatles music.
